Bar and bat mitzvah RSVPs, sorted

A bar or bat mitzvah has at least three guest lists: the parents' families, the parents' friends and the kids from class. Each group behaves differently. Grandparents want a phone call, parents from class reply on WhatsApp, and teenagers forget to answer at all. Practi Party brings everyone into one flow: a beautiful digital invitation, a personal link for every guest, automatic reminders only to people who haven't answered, and a voice call at the end. You arrive at the venue or synagogue with a real number instead of spending evenings on the phone.

One guest list, many groups

Upload your guest list from Excel or your contacts and split it into groups: mum's family, dad's family, the parents' friends, classmates, the youth movement. For each invitation you record how many people were invited, so a family of five is counted correctly.

Groups help later on too. You can see how many people confirmed from each group, send a reminder to one group only, and prepare separate lists for the tables. If there's an aliyah to the Torah in the morning and a party in the evening, list both on the invitation and every guest sees all the details in one place.

The right channel for every generation

The first WhatsApp message reaches most guests and gets answered quickly. Anyone who doesn't reply gets a reminder, and guests without WhatsApp receive the same link by SMS.

For grandparents, and anyone who doesn't like clicking links, there's an automated voice call. A short message asks them to press 1 if they're coming and then enter how many people will attend. You can use automatic text-to-speech built from the event details, or record the message in the bar or bat mitzvah child's own voice. It's a personal touch the family remembers, and it also gets more people to answer.

A digital invitation that fits the occasion

Practi Party invitation pages are built for phones: a large photo or video, the child's name, the date, time and location with a Waze and maps button, add-to-calendar and one-tap RSVP.

Pick a template that matches the mood, festive or colourful, and add a personal message. Guests choose whether they're coming, how many people will join them and, if they like, leave a short blessing. The invitation page is free, even if you send the link yourself.

Live numbers, seating and export

The dashboard shows how many guests confirmed, how many declined, how many haven't answered and the expected number of people. Filter by group to see exactly who is missing.

For seating, create tables, drag guests onto them and see how many seats are left. A table for the teenagers, a table for the extended family, a table for work friends. When you're done, export the list to Excel for the venue, the caterer and the production team.

Free, or fully automatic

The invitation page, guest list, share link and RSVP dashboard are free. You only pay for automatic sending rounds by WhatsApp, SMS and voice call, and the prices are shown openly on the site.

Messages are only sent at reasonable hours, never at night and not on Shabbat or holidays. If you're celebrating at a venue that works with Practi Party, the service may already be part of your package.

Five tips for smooth bar and bat mitzvah RSVPs

First, clean up the list before you send anything. Missing or duplicate phone numbers are the most common reason guests never answer, so check them once, calmly. Second, record how many people each invitation covers, otherwise it's hard to know whether "coming" means two people or five.

Third, put everything guests need on the invitation: the service time, the reception time, any dress code and parking. You'll get fewer questions in your private WhatsApp. Fourth, give guests a clear RSVP deadline and set the reminders to match. Fifth, save the voice call for last. It reaches the people who are genuinely hard to reach, and a recording in the child's own voice turns it into a sweet moment rather than another call-centre call.

Questions and answers

How long before the bar mitzvah should we send RSVPs?

A common schedule is the invitation about three weeks before, a reminder about ten days before and a final call round about a week before the venue needs your final number.

Can the voice call be recorded by the bar mitzvah child?

Yes. Use automatic text-to-speech from the event details, or upload your own recording for the call.

We have an aliyah in the morning and a party at night. Can both go on one invitation?

Yes. Add both times to the invitation page and every guest sees all the details in one place.

Do classmates need their own phone number?

No. You can send the invitation to the parents and record how many people are coming from each family.

Does it work for a bat mitzvah too?

Of course. The flow is the same for a bar mitzvah, a bat mitzvah or any other family event.
